In this volume of the series, we have ensured that the student completes their language foundations before moving on to the next volume. The book witnesses a smooth expansion in all content elements, in addition to a gradual transition toward artistic and aesthetic appreciation through some of these elements. Its organization is as follows:
Units
There are eight units, with the following topics:
1. Describing people 2. Holidays and religious occasions3. Very funny 4. Nature5. Different cultures 6. Proverbs, expressions, and wisdom7. Historical figures 8. Education
Each unit consists of two parts. The first part includes:Vocabulary, Dialogue, Grammar, Listening and Comprehension, Speaking.
The second part includes:Vocabulary, Dialogue, Grammar, Reading and Comprehension, Writing.
Vocabulary
The number of vocabulary items in the two parts ranges between 80 and 100. The student book contains a small number of exercises on how to use this vocabulary, while the workbook focuses on the larger portion of these.
Dialogue
This is a natural situation in which the vocabulary of the lesson is presented through a dialogue text that expresses how to use that vocabulary naturally in daily life situations, allowing the student to internalize it and emulate some of its models in speech and writing. Each dialogue is followed by a focus on common linguistic structures and expressive patterns used within it, presented in various models so the student can easily imitate them and create similar sentences. Additionally, it includes the most important morphological and linguistic notes, in a more comprehensive manner than before.
Grammar
The grammar content in this book is based on two main criteria:
The most common and frequently used grammatical chapters in the Arabic language.
Analyzing students' grammatical and morphological errors and utilizing them to develop the curriculum content.
Morphological rules, presented independently starting from the second book, act as a common denominator with the grammatical rules in this book. They aim to enable the student to understand the derivational system and enrich their vocabulary by deriving many words from a single root to express the meanings they desire.
The workbook contributes significantly to reinforcing the grammatical and morphological rules learned in the student book through rich and varied exercises that provide the student with the ability to master the rules in their correct form.
Language Skills
The four main skills are distributed throughout the unit, with two skills in each part: Listening and Speaking in the first part, and Reading and Writing in the second part.
Listening
The listening skill aims to enable the student to distinguish the studied vocabulary and the ways it is used in various patterns and structures, and to comprehend it within a narrative or dialogue text, in addition to helping them understand other vocabulary through context.
Listening in this book is characterized by presenting authentic materials from various media outlets, whether news, television programs, or film materials shown on different satellite channels, which allows the student to be face-to-face with Arabic without simplified intermediary texts as was the case in the previous two books.
Speaking
The speaking skill enhances students' motivation to continue their learning journey. Therefore, speaking in this book aims for the student to gain command over the new structures and expressions introduced and to use them effectively, in addition to their ability to manage discussions related to the unit's topic.
Free oral expression is the most prominent feature of speaking in this book, where the student describes what they see in pictures, comments on some caricatures, or narrates a story and tells some jokes in their own unique and impactful way.
Reading and Comprehension
The carefully selected reading texts are preceded by some questions and images as a motivating preparation, followed by comprehension questions and true/false distinctions. In addition, reading aloud has been a factor in improving performance, correcting pronunciation, intoning phrases, and applying grammar. Reading has been expanded in this book so that the student can title some of the selected texts, discuss their ideas, and extract some of the grammar and morphology rules they have learned. Furthermore, they can express their opinion on the subject and extract aesthetic features from some of the sentences and phrases that contain beautiful artistic imagery, which develops their linguistic taste.
Writing
Writing at this stage reflects the student's extent of understanding what they have learned throughout the unit and their correct command of the vocabulary and structures within it. Therefore, writing is reinforced with various elements to serve this purpose.
The writing skill in this book includes the following elements:
a- Connectives: The book focuses specifically on connectives at this stage of the series due to the development of the students' linguistic level, and as a preparation to transition them in writing from expression at the level of short sentences to expression at the level of long, extended sentences, effectively transitioning from one meaning to another, and linking premises to conclusions and causes to effects.
b- Creative Expression: This is free but organized expression aimed at enabling the student to organize their thoughts, present them in an orderly form, and divide them into paragraphs ranging in length, while supporting the ideas they present with evidence and proofs, and reinforcing them by using proverbs and imagery.
c- Calligraphy: In this book, care has been taken to provide students with beautiful models in both Naskh and Ruq'ah scripts related to the unit's topic, so they can compare the characteristics of both scripts in detail.
